How We Teach

"How We Teach is What We Teach"
Keynote address by Elizabeth Seward, PhD

Children learn more than they are taught, and Waldorf education reminds us of the crucial importance of the physical, the human and the intangible environment which children live and breathe. In the Waldorf approach, a conversation is fostered between student and lesson content and between student and teacher that encompasses the mundane and the sublime. Some key features of this conversational gesture are mutual respect, interest, nonjudgmental listening or observation, and the desire and need to know other perspectives and embrace difference. Through this, our children learn how to learn.
